A little bit of news on the far down the line sequel to Suicide Squad tonight, gang.
First up, it’s been confirmed that the script is finished and has been given to the bosses at Warner Bros/DC according to writer Todd Stashwick who was talking about his work on the movie.
“We have finished our draft and I’m really proud of it,” he says.
“It’s a sequel to the first film. Again, I can’t say anything else. Our intention is to tell an exciting story, deepening these characters,” he adds.
While many people don’t like the original movie very much, I make no secret of liking it a lot, so more depth to the characters we met in that movie would be very welcomed.
On top of the above news, we’re also hearing rumours that the sequel’s story had to be altered due to Dwayne Johnson’s busy schedule.
Going back a long time we’d heard that the movie would see the squad running up against Shazam! anti-hero Black Adam, played by Johnson.
And yes, it seems that was indeed the plot. Apparently the Squad were originally meant to go to the the Middle East to get to a mystical weapon before Black Adam, locking horns with him several times along the way before he went on to appear in his own movie or the Shazam! sequel.
There’s still talk that he may appear at the end of the movie to segue-way into his own movie.
So there you go… some fun SS2 news for this Batman Day.
