The Black Adam movie has cast the villainous Atom Smasher

So, you may recall a while back that To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before heart throb (look, stick with me, ok, I’m going somewhere with this) Noah Centineo was cast as He-Man in the Netflix live-action adaptation (here) that there were raised eybrows.

Because, well, he’s not exactly what you think of when you think of He-Man, let’s just say that. However, now it seems (as we guessed) that that particular endeavour is no longer happening as Centineo has been cast opposite Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in the DCEU Black Adam movie as the villainous Atom Smasher.

The movie is to be directed by Jungle Cruise’s Jaume Collet-Serra and will see Johnson playing the DC Comics villain/anti-Hero (and nemesis of Shazam!), Black Adam.

Atom Smasher – who can be seen in the image above along with the actor(s) – has the ability to control his molecular structure and manipulate his size and strength.

The movie itself is to be a major part of DC’s massive online event DC Fandome which takes place next month (here)

It’s unknown if Atom Smasher is the big bad in the movie or how he fits in, but it’s great to know the ball is finally rolling on this movie. Now, hopefully Warners can get Henry Cavill in as Superman and we’re all looking just shiny.

Black Adam is expected to hit cinemas on December 22nd, 2021.

As an interesting aside, a list of characters and actors sought to play them has been doing the rounds on social media, so I’ll share it here. Why? Well, because Cintineo is on there as being sought for Atom Smasher.

There’s a lot of other interesting names on there too, but we’ll get into those another time, I leave it for you to ponder for now.
