There’s no denying that Mission: Impossible Fallout last summer was the best of the franchise so far, and the reception both critically and with fans, as well as the money it made all agreed.
So naturally we are getting a sequel.
The movie itself, like the one before, Rogue Nation, was written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie and they both were one big story and even had some clever throwbacks to other movies in the franchise.
And now McQuarrie and star Tom Cruise have confirmed that they are both coming back for not just one, but two sequels!
McQuarrie will write and direct both movies and they will be shot back-to-back with their releases being summer 2021 and summer 2022. McQuarrie will write them while Cruise finishes filming the Top Gun sequel, Top Gun: Maverick.
This is very exciting news because the M:I franchise is one that gets better with each instalment – well, maybe not II, and McQuarrie reached the top with his last two instalments, so the idea of an over-arching four-part story has us pretty excited.
Yes, we choose to accept.
