Tom Cruise, with the help of Elon Musk, is heading to make a movie on the International Space Station

Well, this is definitely a thing to report on…

Tom Cruise, he of the impossible stunt work, is literally going out of this world for a new movie.

Reports were floating around earlier that Cruise wanted to work with Elon Muck on his Space X projects to film something in space and now NASA (below) has confirmed that the star will indeed become the first actor to take part in a feature film filmed in the International Space Station.

NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine wrote on Twitter: “NASA is excited to work with @TomCruise on a film aboard the @Space_Station! We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make @NASA’s ambitious plans a reality.”

The current thought is that Musk, with Space X, will be the one ubering Cruise to the station, but we wouldn’t expect it to be happening anytime soon.

Musk’s Space X’s Crew Dragon will be launching its first manned mission to the ISS this month.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
