Big news from the world of Harry Potter as one of the original stars returns to the franchise!
Yes, star Tom Felton who played Draco Malfoy in the movies, is stepping onto the boards to play him once more in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway.

HBO reveal the young actors to play Harry, Ron and Hermione in new Harry Potter series
The last Harry Potter movie, The Deathly Hallows Part 2, came out in 2011 and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child takes place 19 years after the last book/movie, so the timeline is a bit off but would definitely work. The story sees the original characters sending their own kids off to Hogwarts.
- How it started…
- … how it’s going
On his return, Felton spoke about the honour of playing Draco, adding: “Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in ‘Cursed Child’ this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play. It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes – and of course his iconic platinum blond hair – and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world. I look forward to joining this incredible company and being a part of the Broadway community.”
Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender said: “This moment is powerful on many levels—Tom will be making his Broadway debut and is marking a full-circle moment for not just himself, but for Draco too. He gets to inhabit Draco once more, but this time as an adult facing the relatable challenges of parenthood and the complicated meaning of legacy.”
I haven’t had the chance to see the play yet… maybe now is the time to rectify that.
Thoughts? I know you have ’em, I wanna hear ’em all…
