While we all wait for Transformers: The Last Knight to arrive on June 23rd, it looks like the franchise still has a big future ahead.
Talking in London earlier this week, director Michael Bay (who confirmed this will probably be his last Transformers movie) said that the world of the Transformers is being massively planned out and there’s as many as 14 movies at planning stage!
He said that the writing room which has formed to expand the universe for the next ten years and beyond has sequels, spin-offs and more (perhaps the crossovers with GI Joe, MASK etc?) at planning stage already.
The latest movie, Bay’s fifth installment, is the first movie to come from the writers’ room and, therefore, must be the first to set the tone for the universe to come – the director confirms there are ‘easter eggs’ in there for future movies.
Bay also revealed that the Bumblebee movie which is currently in pre-production, and set to be directed by Travis Knight, will be a prequel and will go back a few years… will it be set on Cybertron? We would love that!
Bay also confirms that, of all the 14 stories being planned, he wants to direct one of the spin-offs himself and we got the feeling he’s not as done with the franchise as we thought.

It also looks like the movie’s final trailer will hit on Wednesday, April 12th – here’s a new teaser.
