Could it be? Could the most, most excellent movie of all time be coming?
According to Production Weekly – which keeps check on the filming schedules of all upcoming movies – it seems that Bill & Ted III AKA Bill & Ted Face The Music IS set to start filming this spring after all.
The movie – which was apparently off again a few months ago – was set to reunite stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter along with Bill & Ted writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon.
A while back, solomon had this to say: “We wanted to have it be something that we — all four of us, Chris and I, Alex and Keanu — could stand behind, and know we’re doing this for the right reasons.”
He then added: “I think it’s kind of like A Christmas Carol with Bill and Ted. Looking at their lives, and really kind of rediscovering what they’re about.”
On top of that, if all goes as was previously planned, Galaxy Quest’s Dean Parisot would be directing.
And best of all, producer Steven Soderbergh recently said: “Bill Sadler is back, returning as death, and a few delicious cameos by people to be named another time.”
When we last picked up with Ted “Theodore” Logan and Bill S. Preston Esq., the most audacious dudes they were time-traveling teenagers trying to pass history class and win the battle of the bands.
Bill & Ted Face the Music will see the duo long past their days as time-traveling teenagers and now weighed down by middle age and the responsibilities of family. They’ve written thousands of tunes, but they have yet to write a good one, much less the greatest song ever written.
With the fabric of time and space tearing around them, a visitor from the future warns our heroes that only their song can save life as we know it. Out of luck and fresh out of inspiration, Bill and Ted set out on a time travel adventure to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe as we know it. Together with the aid of their daughters, a new crop of historical figures, and some sympathetic music legends, they find much, much more than just a song.
If the movie does film this spring – that’s March/April in real-time – then Spoderbergh’s tease a while back that the movie would be ” a good Christmas present,” could actually happen.
It’s unlikely, in fairness, but Bill & Ted returning would just make Christmas that little bit more magical, don’t you think?
