Well, not that you’re too surprised, but it’s been confirmed that a sequel is coming to Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice as well as a few more of your childhood favourites.

In a new interview with Warner Bros Pictures co-chairman/CEOs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, the topic of a third B outing for Micheal Keaton’s Ghost With the Most was on the cards and De Luca confirmed that yes, an announcement would be coming soon, saying: “The ink might not be dry on the deals yet, but imminently.”

As a fan of Beetlejuice from its first release in 1988, I waited a long, long time for a sequel and when I finally arrived last year, as much as there was some fun stuff in there, it was a massive disappointment, feeling both long and drawn out and simultaneously rushed. It also made some very, very questionable choices with legacy characters.

But, that said, it was great to see Keaton back alongside Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder, even if the magic was gone. Can they find it again for a third movie? I have my doubts after Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, sadly.

Cloverfield’s Drew Goddard signs on to write and direct new Matrix movie

However, Beetlejuice wasn’t the only ghost they plan on resurrecting.

You may recall I reported in January and then February that sequel were coming for two of the 80s most beloved movies, The Goonies and Gremlins (and, I suppose, Gremlins 2: The New Batch), well, it’s confirmed that these are in development and coming soon too: “We’re super excited about Amblin developing with Chris Columbus new entries in the Gremlins and Goonies franchises,” said Abdy.

They also confirmed that, as we reported in April last year, that Cabin in the Woods and Cloverfield’s Drew Goddard is developing a new Matrix entry.

New Goonies and Gremlins movies in development

Look, don’t get me wrong, new Beetlejuice, Goonies, Gremlins and Matrix movies would have seemed like a dream come true not too long ago but after Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice and that last Matrix which I don’t even want to recall the name of, along with how so much of the stuff I have loved for decades has been treated like crap in recent years, I feel jaded and doubtful about these all.

That said, if any or all of them turn out to be great and worthy of the brilliance that went before them, then I will be the first to decry their brilliance.

Let’s hope we get there, huh?

Thoughts, I know you have ’em, I wanna hear them all.
