The final (?) trailer for upcoming Aquaman sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has finally arrived and seems to be carrying a more serious tone than the last one.
The sequel is now known to be the final entry in the DCEU and Jason Momoa, in a new interview finally addressed the fact that this movie is the end of the DCEU that was before James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU kicks off next year and hints that he’s not done at DC, saying ‘they link him there’. could he be hinting at the previously reported rumours that in the DCU he’ll be playing intergalactic bounty Hunter Lobo rather than Aquaman?

He says this will be the end for his Aquaman, but teases “but this isn’t the end for me at DC, they like me.” 👀

Personally, I think Momoa would be a great choice for Lobos, especially after his recent villainous turn in Fast X, but I think it could be a jarring turn of events for the more casual movie fans who will be wondering why he’s no longer the king of Atlantic but rather a white and black-faced alien with a seriously bad attitude. If, of course, that’s what happens.
Meanwhile, this looks like a fun little movie but in the terrible year DC has had so far – and comic book movies in general – I can’t help feeling that the DCEU is set to go out with a whimper rather than a bang.
Shame, really.
Jason Momoa says he has been told ‘great news’ about the future of DC on film
In Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Jason Momoa plays Arthur Curry/Aquaman, now balancing his duties as both the King of Atlantis and a new father; Patrick Wilson is Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother and his nemesis, who must now step into a new role as his brother’s reluctant ally; Amber Heard is Mera, Atlantis’ Queen and mother of the heir to the throne; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Black Manta, committed more than ever to avenge his father’s death by destroying Aquaman, his family and Atlantis; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, a fierce leader and mother with the heart of a warrior.
Also reprising their roles are Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom arrives in cinemas on December 22nd.
