Well, it’s official, the next chapter in the Monsterverse saga has got its official title… and a very cool teaser trailer.
Continuing the giant franchise that kicked off with Godzilla starring Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen in 2014, this franchise has been a lot of fun but honestly, it feels like it’s constantly fighting to survive, much like the giant creatures in the saga themselves.
Anyways, the latest installment is due next March and is called Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
The movie will be directed by Godzilla’s Adam Wingard and it looks like a new monster will rise that will be a threat to Kong, Godzilla and the people on earth.
This latest entry in the Monsterverse franchise follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.
Following on from Godzilla, the franchise has also included Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) and most recently Godzilla vs. Kong in 2021 and it looks like this new movie will draw from the lore of all the other movies as well as opening it up for the future.

And, speaking of the future, as well as big screen outings, the Monsterverse is heading to the small screen soon with a new series from Apple starring Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt and will ‘follow a family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch’. Monarch is the top secret organisation in the franchise that was set up to monitor and control the monsters and contain the threat they represent to the world.
I’m a fan of this franchise if for thing more than the entertainment and call of them, so I’ll be looking forward to what the future holds.
