WATCH: Simon Pegg and Nick Frost tell us not to go to The Winchester and wait for all this to blow over

So, in the middle of this whole damned virus affair, one of the greatest bits of advice we’re all getting on social media is to head to The Winchester and wait for it all to blow over.

Of course, this is a nod to the classic 2004 horror comedy Shaun of the Dead starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Shaun and Ed, two best mates who find themselves in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and their plan? Head to The Winchester Pub and ‘wait for it all to blow over’.

Now obviously, with the world facing social distancing measures, the very notion of heading to the pub is out the window and so Pegg and Frost have got together to do a new video advising us all how to get through this crazy time.

Check it out below and keep scrolling for more from another, even more, iconic character:

Joining on to this, taking to his Twitter, the legend that is William Shatner, decided to share with all his followers how he plans on surviving the whole self-isolation ordeal but he did it as his most iconic role… Star Trek’s Captain James T Kirk:

“Captain’s Log: Stardate 1 of self imposed isolation. After having arrived at Planet Home, I was warmly greeted by Emissaries Espresso & Macchiato. I look forward to my planned respite from my normal duties. Kirk out,”

At 88-years-old, Shatner would be considered high risk in terms of contracting this damned virus. Oh, and Espresso and Macchiato are his dogs.

In his next tweet he referred to his recent tour that was cut short over the outbreak: “Captain’s Log: Supplemental. While reflecting upon my experiences of the past week I do want to send my love, thanks & respect to those in Europe who came out to see me. Smiling face with 3 hearts For those canceled appearances I will work towards seeing if I can get back to those venues at some point.”

On Thursday, he returned to Twitter, writing: “Captain’s Log: Stardate 2 of self imposed isolation. Emissaries Macchiato & Espresso have been exploring a new territory called Underbed bestowing upon me tributes of missing socks and other items in an attempt to get my attention & adoration.”

Then, today, he wrote: “Captain’s Log: Stardate 3 of self imposed isolation. Emissaries Macchiato & Espresso have been banished to backyard penal colony for chewing away mission leather bag. Had to venture to #officecolony to retrieve items for the month long celebration called #lockdownLA More later.”

From Shaun of the Dead to the USS Enterprise, isn’t it great to know that we’re all together in this craziness?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
