WATCH: Zack Snyder had actually filmed his Jon Stewart Green Lantern scene and reveals who played him

April 20th, 2021 by Marc Comments

So, last week we reported that Zack Snyder had an actor in mind to play John Stewart’s Green Lantern in his Justice League movie but sadly, he wasn’t allowed to use the character (here).

Then, last night, it was revealed that both Stewart and Kilowog were set to appear in the movie’s final scene but were replaced with the Martian Manhunter (here).

Now, it seems we were right about one of these and half right about the other.

We reported that Snyder’s reported choice for Stewart was Moonlight and Birdbox star Trevante Rhodes, but now Snyder himself has confirmed that Who’s Afraid of the Big Black Wolf star Wayne T Carr was the man for gig.

We were right about the Kilowog part.

So, at JusticeCon 2021 over the weekend, Snyder revealed that not only was Carr his choice but they actually filmed the scene!

“He’s an amazing actor, an amazingly kind gentleman,” Snyder said at the panel.

“I said, ‘Look, there’s a chance that this doesn’t make it in the movie.’ I’m not 100% sure he thought it was real, legit.”

This supports what Snyder said last month on the ReelBlend podcast: “We did have a Green Lantern scene in the movie that the studio asked me to take out that I did also shoot here in the driveway with an amazing actor who was going to play John Stewart.”

You can hear all the Snyder panel below and it’s nice to know that he had even bigger plans for the movie… it’s just a pity we’ll probably never get to see Carr in the role.

Cough – deleted scenes release – cough!

Let me hear all your thoughts, folks.
