Over the last decade we’ve had a ton of female characters cast in the DCEU with Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn along with the women in the upcoming Birds of Prey and various others that have been seen throughout the DCEU.
In saying that, there’s still a lot of female characters that haven’t been done at all like the Green Lantern Jessica Cruz, Catwoman and Poison Ivy who have both been portrayed more recently in Fox’s Gotham.
However, pop sensation Rihanna is currently on the list of names Warner Bros is looking at to play Poison Ivy in their new feature Gotham City Sirens.
So for those who don’t know about the comics, the Sirens are the three main female villains who reside in Gotham: Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Catwoman. During a skirmish with Hush, Catwoman looses and has her heart cut out, Batman then retrieves it and with Zantana’s help is healed and saved. This is all just before the Sirens but is crucial to the storyline since after she’s healed she got into another little scrap with a new villain named Boneblaster who easily beats her due to her injuries but she is saved from death by Poison Ivy, then together, Batwoman, Ivy and Harley form a team to go against Hush.
Rihanna is just one name on the list, but is no stranger to the silver screen having done a few movies in the last couple of years such as Ocean’s Eight in 2018 and Guava Island this year. This being said, a role in the DCEU would be completely different to anything she’s done so far and it would be interesting to see how she would interpret the character.
