With the new X-Men movie already confirmed as Dark Pheonix (i.e. FOX trying once more to do the X-Men’s arguably biggest story justice for the second time) (here) we’re starting to et some cool news… from returning stars, to rumoured plot points to new character speculation so, without further ado, let’s get into it.
CYCLOPS’ NEW LOOK:
First off, let’s get the ball rolling by checking out the first look at actor The Sheridan as Cyclops sporting a brand new visor:

We really think he’s starting to look like James Marsden who played Cyclops/Scott Summers in the original X-Men movies, don’t you?
DAZZLER WILL APPEAR:
Next up, a character that you might recall was rumoured to be appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse and to be played by Taylor Swift (here), Dazzler.

Ok, if you don’t, that’s Dazzler, the former X-Men character. According to Wikipedia:
Dazzler (Alison Blaire) is a fictional superheroine appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, usually associated with the X-Men. She first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #130 (February 1980).
A mutant with the ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams, Dazzler was originally developed as a cross-promotional, multi-media creation between Casablanca Records and Marvel Comics until the tie-ins were dropped in 1980. The character was created by a committee of Marvel staff, principally writer/editor Tom DeFalco and illustrator John Romita, Jr.
Well now we’re hearing rumours that Dazzler WILL appear in Dark Phoenix as EW are reporting the character will appear in the movie, will only have a small role and likely won’t be Taylor Swift. No Te-Te? No Te-Te.
OLIVIA MUNN BACK AS PSYLOCKE?
Psylocke in the comics is a very cool character and while actress Olivia Munn certainly looked the part (ahem) in the role, word was her performance was greatly cut in the final movie and her caracter ultimately divided fans after her appearance onscreen as she was ok in the movie but failed to make the big impression fans had hoped.

However, she didn’t die at the end of the movie and very obviously escaped to fight another day.
Now Munn has stoked fan interest again by posting on social media that she is currently in Montreal, which just happens to be where the new X-Men movie is filming.
Coincidence? You decide…

QUICKSILVER IS BACK AND A NEW CAST MEMBER JOINS THE TEAM:
Yes! Not exactly surprising but we now know that Quicksilver, played by Evan Peters, will be returning for the third time to the X-Men ranks.
Peters’ performance managed to completely steal the show in the last two movies so we expect something similar this time out… although how they’ll top these two scenes is beyond us:

Also, Canadian actor Lamar Johnson (below) has joined the ensemble cast in a role that is currently shrouded in secrecy. He currently stars in The Next Step.

MAGNETO’S ROLE?:
New reports are suggesting that we’ll see a very different Magneto, played my Michael Fassbender, in this new outing who has a bigger goal than we’ve arguably seen since the character’s first appearance played by Sir Ian McKellen; as leader of a cult and perhaps even a country:
Apparently Magneto will don a new costume in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and this redesign is meant to suggest “imagery commonly associated with cult leaders.” No confirmed details were provided about who he is leading, although given Magneto’s comic book history and the movie’s early 1990s setting, it seems likely that we’ll see the cinematic versions of the Acolytes, who were introduced to the comics in 1991.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix will introduce Genosha, the fictional country that enslaved mutants until Magneto took control and established the nation as a safe haven for mutants for many years. If Magneto has indeed gathered followers who ascribe to his ideology, Genosha is likely where they would establish a new home, free from persecution and discrimination.
So there you have it, it looks like Dark Phoenix could be a game changer on several levels…
Thoughts? Let us know….
Dark Phoenix is bringing back the recent mainstays of the X-Men franchise — Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult — as well as reuniting the younger actors of Apocalypse — Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan and Kodi Smit-McPhee — as it adapts a key storyline from the X-Men comics.
Longtime X-Men steward Simon Kinberg is writing and making his directorial debut with the movie, which is slated to open Nov. 2, 2018.
