Amazon signs on with Legendary for Pacific Rim live-action series

It looks like Amazon has signed on to team-up with Legendary to develop a live-action Pacific Rim TV series.

The series, based on Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 epic movie about monsters, Kaiju, coming up from an interdimensional rift in the Pacific Ocean to destroy Earth only to see humanity fight back with giant fighting robots called Jaegers, will be a prequel, presumably telling the story of the rift and the early days of Earth’s almost demise.

Currently in development, this will be the first series from Legendary’s first-look television deal with Eric Heisserer and his Chronology banner. Heisserer will write and executive produce.

Fan finds crazy Pacific Rim Easter egg in Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire

Of course, this isn’t the first time Del Toro’s movie has seen a follow-up, with a disappointing sequel appearing in 2018, followed by a two-season Netflix animated series. There were also comics, games, and all the usual guff.

Nothing else is really known right now about the series, but I have always felt that Pacific Rim should be a massive franchise by this stage like Legendary’s Monsterverse… perhaps this is where it really kicks off?

Thoughts? I know you have them, guys… I wanna hear them.
