Great news Squid Game fans, the world of the games is set to get even bigger!
Yes, the long-rumoured English-language Squid Game series being developed by Fight Club and Seven’s David Fincher looks like it’s moving along at Netflix.
With the original Korean series returning for a second season this Boxing Day and a third and final series coming, it’s still unclear if the Fincher series will be the same universe as Hwang Dong-hyuk’s original series – though I think the idea of games all over the world would be too good to waste.

Fincher’s Squid Game was originally believed to be a movie at Netflix but it’s a series now and will be written by Utopia’s Dennis Kelly with the story being set in the US.
Fincher is no stranger to TV – and great TV at that – having previously being involved in House of Cards, Mindhunter and Love, Death and Robots, so his involvement is welcome and it means that Netflix is taking the world of Squid Game seriously.
Squid Game was one of my favourite shows of the last decade or so and Fincher has helmed a couple of my favourite movies of all-time with Fight Club and The Social Network, so this is all very exciting and while I can’t wait to see where the original series goes, I will be waiting for this spinoff with baited breath.
