If, like me, you’re a big fan of TV’s greatest serial killer/anti-hero, Dexter Morgan, then today is a good day.
After a disappointing send-off for Dexter, played by Micheal C Hall, not once (Dexter) but twice (Dexter: New Blood), it was the unexpectedly superb prequel series Dexter: First Blood = with Patrick Gibson playing Dexter – which got everyone excited for more of Hall’s take on the iconic character.
And it seems there will be much, much more to come…
Dexter: Original Sin gets second season order at Showtime/Paramount+
Dexter: Resurrection showrunner Clyde Phillips and star Michael C Hall sat down with Vanity Fair (which had a load of new images from the series which you can check out below), and revealed that “Dexter: Resurrection won’t be a limited series. It’s built to last for many more seasons”.
“We’ve got the strongest franchise in Showtime’s history, and we plan to do this for years,” Phillips says.
Backing up Phillips’ comments, Hall said: “Years with an ‘s’. The thinking is not to come back for a sort of self-contained one-off again, but leave it open to further exploration. The intention, and hope, is that the story will continue beyond this.
“Hell, even if that weren’t the case, Dexter Morgan is a hard guy to keep down. He’s a much more human, flesh-and-blood version of that horror trope of someone who just refuses to go down,” Hall says.
With word being that Dexter would be getting more spinoffs and prequel series Dexter: Original Sin getting a secodn season, it looks like Dexter isn’t going anywhere soon and, if we’re lucky, we may see more from his world too, even if he doesnt’ appear in all the stories.
The John Wick of serial killers? I can live with that.
Guess it pays to live by the code, huh?
