Oooooooooh… isn’t this exciting news?
The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito, who played the first season’s big bad, Moff Gideon, has hinted in a new interview (below) that his character, last seen in the series finale wielding the legendary Darksabre, may be a Force user.
“To be in the position of having that regal, graceful power but have this saber which delineates a different part of me than any other character,” Esposito said.
“To have this saber means I can use it, and I can do my own dirty work, that I’m a fighter, that I’m a warrior. That’s part of me.
“It also creates the possibility that he is one of the ones. He possibly has that, and that to me is interesting because is he really that fallen hero? Is he a descendant of Darth Vader. Who is he? What does he want? He knows all about everything, and you’ll have to wait to find out. Yeah, he’s actually pretty good with that Darksaber too.”
Now he refers to himself as a fighter, a warrior. He goes on that hint he may be a descendant of Darth Vader himself… calling himself one of ‘the ones’ meaning, we think, Force users.
Star Wars fans will also know that even though Han Solo once used one to man a Taun Taun bed for Luke, only Jedi and Sith can properly use a sabre… does this include the Darksabre?
Personally, Gideon popping up at the end of the season was a real treat and he felt like a real threat… having him as a bonafide Force user – perhaps a retired Inquistor or one of the Emperor’s Hands?
Man… because we weren’t excited enough already!
What say you all? Let me know…
