And another massive announcement from the Star Wars camp tonight.
We’re just getting over the prospect of a new Star Wars trilogy under the guidance of The Last Jedi’s writer/director Rian Johnson (here) when we get another big news story dropped on us.
Variety are reporting that Disney chairman-CEO Bob Iger announced a live-action Star Wars TV Series is in development to air on Disney’s upcoming entertainment streaming service which is expected by the end of 2019.
We just hope that Rebels and Clone Wars showrunner Dave Filoni will be in charge; we know he wants to, after all (here).
We’re wondering if this is still Star Wars Underworld which, as once discussed by then Star Was producer Rick McCallum and described as: “It’s underneath what’s going on,. It’s the criminals and the gangs. The guys who are running Wall Street, basically. The guys who are running the United States.”
“They’re timeless [the scripts]. They take place between Episode III and Episode IV. That 20 year period when Luke is growing up. It’s not about Luke, but it’s about that period when the Empire is trying to take things [over].”
Only time will tell…
We will also see series based around Monsters Inc, High School Musical and something new from Marvel too.
We know nothing more on the Star Wars or Marvel series at this stage but you know we’re excited.
Iger also said Disney would produce four to five original movies a year for the service as well as all the new TV shows.
Get ready folks… because by the time we get to 2019 there’ll be no reason to ever leave the house.
