Look, I know it’s divisive, but I really enjoyed the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, despite its many flaws, I thought when it delivered, it delivered in spades, so I would be well up for a second season.
We know that between the ending of season one and the beginning of Stars Wars Episode VI: A New Hope, Kenobi had many adventures and learned the secrets to becoming a Force Ghost, so there’s still much to tell and it seems that Ewan McGregor is well aware of that.
McGregor has never made a secret of his willingness to return to the role of Kenobi again and it seems that it might just happen and with Hayden Christensen’s much-praised return as Anakin during the Clone Wars scenes in the Ahsoka series, McGregor has an idea about just how he’d like to do it, hinting that the second series might not just be a sequel but perhaps part prequel/flashback too.
“Obviously, between the end of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and when Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi, there’s got to be another few stories in there,” the star said at LA Comic Con, however, he went on to explain that what he wants to do most is in Kenobi’s earlier years during the Clone Wars, not in his future: “I’d quite like to wear that armor. I was speaking to someone earlier, from the Clone Wars. I think that would be something that I would enjoy.”
He also said that, if they used modern de-aging technology, he and “Hayden [Christensen] and I can really get back together again.”
FTN BIG INTERVIEW: [watch] we chat to Game of Thrones and Obi-Wan Kenobi star Indira Varma
McGregor is perhaps one of Star Wars’ most loved actors and Kenobi is one of the franchise’s best-loved characters, so the prospect of him returning and maybe putting on the Clone Wars armour and giving us a live-action Clone Wars sequence with Christensen returning as Anakin and perhaps even Ariana Greenblatt returning as the young Ahsoka as she played her in the Ahsoka series, would be a big, big hit with fans, I have no doubt.
Would you want to see a younger Kenobi, Anakin and Ahsoka in live-action, fighting in the Clone Wars, maybe with Captain Rex and Commander Cody with them? Yeah, you would and now that McGregor has put it out there and teased that a Kenobi season 2 isn’t off the table, I can’t help but feel excited for the possibility of it happening.
Let me know your thoughts, guys…
