You may recall, constant reader, that we reported in January 2015 (here) that Simpsons, Life In Hell and Futurama mastermind Matt Groening had signed on with Netflix to release a new animated series and now, two and a half years later, we have a first look at it.
The new series is called Disenchantment and takes place in the crumbling medieval kingdom named Dreamland and centers on the exploits of a hard-drinking princess named Bean (Abbi Jacobson), her plucky elf friend Elfo (Nat Faxon), and her personal demon Luci (Eric Andre) as they match wits with “ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.”
The new show will hit Netflix on August 17th and is a ten episode first season and will feature the voices of Futurama favourites John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche and will also feature Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery.
Creator Groening himself described the series as being “about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.”
Get your first look in the tweets below and know that we will be in front of our screens the second this drops. Will you?
Art thou ready for this?
