FOX’s new X-Men series has now got a title…

We’ve been following the progress of the new X-Men TV series at FOX for a while now (here).

We have a cracking cast in place including Joss Whedon favourite Amy Acker, True Blood’s Stephen Moyer and Gotham’s Jamie Chung, and now we have a name too.

X-Men: Gifted.

Producer Lauren Shuler Donner has shared an image of the cast taking place in a reading of the script (below).

So there we have it… we have a cast, a plot, a director in Bryan Singer for the pilot and now we have the name too.

The action-adventure project focuses on two ordinary parents (Moyer and Acker) who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

Acker will star as Kate Stewart, a woman who is struggling with her separation from her husband, Reed (Moyer) and her increasingly challenging teenage children. When her family situation takes a dark turn, she finds that she’s stronger than she thinks.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
