While all things Star Wars from Disney seem to be a breeding ground for fighting and arguing, it seems that the maker himself, George Lucas, has at least one series in the new canon from the house of mouse that he likes.
In a new interview, Pablo Hidalgo, creative executive in story development at Lucasfilm, spoke about the Obi-Wan Kenobi series that saw Ewan McGregor return to the iconic role and face-off once again against Darth Vader, played here by actor Hayden Christensen, and while it had many things that fans agreed did and didn’t work, according to hidalgo, Lucas was consulted on the series and is a big fan.

“Early on there was a conversation had with George [Lucas] over what his thoughts were, and whether or not, honestly, he bought the whole concept,” says Hidalgo, “and he was one hundred percent supportive. And I’ve heard tell it’s one of his favorite things that’s come out of Star Wars.”
The series itself was, to this fan anyway, a success in many ways but for many it was unnecessary because it was always in the lore that the last time Obi-Wan and Vader met was on Mustafar on the fateful night Anakin Skywalker became Vader and it always seemed to be the case the Obi-Wan and Princess Leia didn’t know each other and the series contradicted both of these things in a big way, so I totally get why some fans are angered over it all… but it’s Star Wars and, you know, from a certain point of view and all that.
I am glad that Lucas is being consulted on the new Star Wars stuff but I really feel that more is needed because there is a disturbance in the Force when it comes to Disney Star Wars and while I see such discourse across all fandoms, I really want to see it fixed soon and getting Lucas involved will help make that happen.
