You may recall a few weeks back the official Star Wars website announced a new female-led series headed for Disney+.
The site announced: “Emmy-nominated writer Leslye Headland (Russian Doll, Bachelorette) is currently developing a new untitled Star Wars series for Disney+. Headland will write, executive produce, and serve as showrunner for the series”
Well, a new rumour has appeared online, suggesting that star Rosario Dawson, who is set to portray Ahsoka Tano in the upcoming second season of The Mandalorian, has signed on for several episodes… and liekly even her own series (yes, please!).
But, it seems that some – ourselves included – are putting one and one together and getting 10… could the female-centric series in development be the Ahsoka series?
Hard to know at this stage, but here’s hoping.
In related news, star Ashley Eckstein, who made Ahsoka famous in Clone Wars and then Rebels, has released a statement about not being part of the character’s future in The Mandalorian: “I’ve read all of your questions and comments about this story and thank you for your patience as I’ve taken the much-needed time to sort through these questions. The truth is, I am not involved in The Mandalorian. I can’t answer questions for something I have not been a part of.
“I am an actress and I have performed in all types of mediums; live-action film/television, theater, voice-over, hosting and it has been my dream for 14 years to continue to play Ahsoka Tano in all forms. I will continue to be grateful for opportunities to help create stories for Ahsoka Tano and I am always happy to see her legacy continued.”
Graceful, as always.
We, like Eckstein, can’t wait to see Ahsoka return… in whatever form that may be.
