You may recall that back in February we reported that The League of Gentlemen could be making a return (here), well now it’s actually happening!
Yes, one third of the league, Reece Shearsmith, has tweeted (below) that he’s back writing the show’s return: “Fun and strange to be writing The League of Gentlemen again. Evidently, it’s true…. we’ll never leave.”
Shearsmith was the co-creator of The League along with Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton and Jeremy Dyson. Gatiss has earlier hinted that the League would be returning soon with new material, although he age no details. Is this the project he’s been working on that’s in front of the Dracula series (here)?
The last time we saw the League was in 2005’s The League of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse and before that the BBC series ended in 2002.
The show became an instant classic because of it’s dark humour and deliciously un-PC attitude… it’ll be interesting to see if it can still run the risks in the current climate.
We don’t know about the rest of you guys but this is very, very exciting news…
Fun and strange to be writing “The League of Gentlemen” again. Evidently it’s true…. we’ll never leave.
