We confirmed in June that HBO were producing a Watchmen TV series (here) and now it looks like it’s just started production.
The series showrunner is Lost and Leftovers creator Damon Lindelof who has taken to Instagram to let fans know that yesterday was ‘Day One’.
The image he shared (bottom of the page) is the feet of a statue that is clearly the one that Nite Owl has in the graphic novel which was awarded to him for bravery by the government with the words ‘In Gratitude’ on the base as seen in the cover below:

While the show is underway, its still very early days in production and there are still no details available but we’re pretty excited to see what HBO can do with this 1986 comic book masterpiece from Alan Moore.
This isn’t the first time the book has been adapted with Zack Snyder bringing the tale to the big screen in 2009 with his pretty damned awesome adaptation.
Can HBO bring the alternate reality tale that brings the world to the bring of destruction with only a team of superheroes to save it to reality in a way as good as Snyder’s?
Will it focus on the original tale only or the recent sequel comics too? Who knows… all we know is we can’t wait to see what this turns out to be.
