Bad and good news for fans of Legion, the X-Men series starring Dan Stevens as the series’ end in season 3 was announced at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.
However, it seems it’s not due to the whole Disney/Fox thing, but rather creator Noah Hawley had always planned on a three-season arc: “I think endings are what give stories meaning,” Hawley said, “I always thought about this as a complete story, and it felt like three acts of a story.”
“What the show is following is this cycle of mental illness. We met David [Dan Stevens] who had been at his lowest point and tried to kill himself, then he meets Syd [Rachel Keller] and he gets balanced out,” he adds, before saying: “The question now is can he get back to some kind of good place, or is he gone for good? Once we tell that story it feels like we’d be going back to the beginning of the cycle.”
It’s a fair point and makes us realise that maybe the series really did have a start, middle and end, but you can’t end the story without bringing in the daddy, literally.
Yes, Professor x himself, David’s father in the comics and here, will be making an appearance alongside David’s mother, Gabrielle. The duo will be played by Game of Thrones’ Harry Lloyd and Mr Robot’s Stephanie Corneliussen.
So, out with a bang, then?
