We’ve heard rumours for a while now that Lucasfilm have been developing a Tales of the Jedi animated series although there was nothing known officially about it.
Until now.
The official Star Wars: Celebration site has posted a list of panels at the event next month (here) and one of them is for… Tales of the Jedi:
“Introducing Tales of the Jedi, animated anthology shorts. Hosted by Amy Ratcliffe with special guest Dave Filoni.”
Hmmmmm…
So, it’s a series of anthology shorts which makes us think it’s akin to Forces of Destiny but the fact that the panel’s special guest is Dave Filoni has us very excited.
Filoni is now, in many ways, the Kevin Feige of Star Wars, being the guiding light behind The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett with Jon Favreau, not to mention the Ahsoka series and much, much more. On the animated side of things, he handled Clone Wars, Rebels and Resistance, so having him involved likely means there’s a story to be told here rather than the Forces of Destiny which, while fun, didn’t expand the lore or story any.
As for what the series is about or when it’s set? No word on that yet although the old Dark Horse comic series took place during the Great Sith War and The Old Republic, so we could be about to see a period of time that, so far, hasn’t been seen on screen.
But that’s all just guesswork at this stage… we’ll likely not know for sure until May 28th.
Thoughts? Let me hear them…
