If you’re as excited for the return of Buffy the Vampire Slayer as I am, then I have some fun news for you today as star Sarah Michelle Gellar has revealed that Buffy will be the same old, kick-ass character she always has been.

Back in February, Gellar confirmed the numerous rumours floating around that Buffy was coming back and, well, it’s been fairly quiet since then.

Saying at the time: “I have always listened to the fans and heard your desire to revisit “Buffy” and her world, but it was not something I could do unless I was sure we would get it right. This has been a long process, and it’s not over yet. I promise you, we will only make this show if we know we can do it right. And I will tell you that we are on the path there.

“I feel so lucky to be on this journey with these four unbelievably talented women, all of whom love “Buffy” as much as I do. And as much as you do. Thank you to all the fans who never stopped asking for this. This will be for you.”

We’d all feared that the show might see Buffy in a more sedantry role, perhaps being more of a Watcher character who guides the new slayer[s], however, in a new interview on Jenna and friends, Gellar was asked if she will be ‘slaying’ to which she relies: “I mean, I think you kind of have to, right? Isn’t that the point of being Buffy, the Vampire Slayer?”

Hell, yes it is! Our original Vampire Slayer (sorry, Blade), is coming back!

So, now that we know Buffy Summers is coming back and will probably still have Mister Pointy with her to do damage, are you more or less excited for the show? Let me know your thoughts, guys… I know you have ’em!
