Big news from SDCC 2019 for Star Trek Discovery season 3 tonight, guys…
It seems that the show is really going where no-one has gone before and it travels 1,000 years into the Trek future.
Creator Alex Kurtzman saidit will be “The farthest that any Star Trek series has gone before” at the Enter the Star Trek Universe panel in Hall H.
This is not totally unexpected given the time-warp ending of season 2 with Kurtzman saying: “There will be things you recognize and don’t recognize.”
It also seems that while Sonequa Martin-Green’s Michael Burnham will be there, Discovery will have a new captain.
Kurtzman assured audiences that “every conversation about how we create Star Trek is filtered through Rodenberry’s optimistic vision of Star Trek,” so the new setting will cot change the show’s core.
The other big announcement from the panel is that Nightflyers actor David Ajala is joining the cast of Star Trek: Discovery. He’ll play a series regular in season 3, a character named Cleveland “Book” Booker. Book was described as a “rule breaker” who joins the series after the time jump.
It also seems that actor David Ajala has joined the crew as Cleveland “Book” Booker, a ‘rule breaker’ who seems to come from the future:
