[Potentially] great news if, like us here at FTN HQ, you’re a big fan of the magic of Studio Ghibli.
Japanese broadcaster Nippon Television (NTV) has acquired a controlling stake in Studio Ghibli, the animation studio co-founded by legendary filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, and now, in a new report it seems that Nippon has big plans for the studio and it might just be great news!
President of Ghibli Toshio Suzuki said in the statement: “We will entrust all management to Nippon Television and concentrate on creating works. We will not only produce movies, but also the possibility of producing TV series.”
Wait… Studio Ghibli TV shows? Imagine a weekly series from the folks behind the likes of Castle in the Sky and My Neighbor Totoro!
While there’s nothing for certain yet, this is definitely a story that we’ll be keeping an eye on.
Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
