You may recall last September I reported that Peacock almost cancelled season 2 of the live-action Ted series because of the $8m per episode price tag (I mean, that’s a lot of money) before the show became a massive hit for them… but you might also recall that in that report I also said an animated Ted series was in development.
Well, now we have details on the animated show as well as a little behind-the-scenes, below.
The animated series will be based on Seth MacFarlane’s Ted and Ted 2 and will act as a sequel to these, where as the live-action show is a prequel. So, basically, it’s instead of Ted 3.
MacFarlane will return to voice Ted along with Mark Wahlberg’s John, Amanda Seyfried’s Sam and Jessica Barth as Ted’s wife, Tami-Lynn; along with these, Kyle Mooney will voice new character Apollo and Liz Richman will voice Ruth.
Interestingly, Richman also appears in the live-action series but in that, she plays a character called Polly who is basically a background character in John’s class.

By complete coincidence, I watched Ted 2 today for the first time in years and while it’s not exactly high art, it is pretty funny and MacFarlane has shown before that he can do long-running comedy shows, so for the immediate future at least, there’s plenty to look forward to in the Ted universe.
Thoughts? I know you have ’em and I wanna hear them all…
