Less than a week until the return of Clone Force 99 in Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3 and I’m genuinely very excited to see what happens next as the show speeds towards its last chapter.
Now, one of the show’s stars Dee Bradley Baker – actually, as the voice of the Clones and, in particular the Bad Batch themselves, he’s THEE star – reveals that the show represents the end of George Lucas’ input to Star Wars.

Asked about voicing all the Clones in the series as individual characters, despite them all being genetically the same, Baker revealed that before Disney took control of Star Wars, this was on of Uncle George’s final inputs to Star Wars: “That actually tracks back to the original idea that George Lucas came up with because this is sort of the end of George Lucas’ legacy is the Bad Batch – he came up with that idea, and it was part of the original Clone Wars series that he made with Dave Filoni – The dynamic that he and the writers came up with was very clear – so that they feel so different, that it was actually easy for me – easier for me – than keeping the clones distinct because they all feel like such different people to me.”
Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Bluesky,

In Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, we never got to know the clones and they were as indistinct as the Stormtroopers in the original trilogy but Lucas decided when he and Filoni sat down and fleshed out the Clone Wars series, that he wanted the Clones to be more than production line soldiers, he wanted them to be people, characters, and it’s why we now love so many Clones such as Rex, Cody, Echo, Fives and, of course, Clone Force 99.
I’m hearing great things about this season of The Bad Batch and, if it really is where Lucas’ input ends, then it’s only appropriate that it be great.
See you all on Wednesday, guys.
After The Bad Batch Season 3 hits on February 21st, the next Star Wars project is The Acolyte, which goes back to the High Republic era and that’s due this summer on Disney+
