Tim Olyphant to voice the Terminator in Netflix anime series

Netflix has announced that Mandalorian star Timothy Olyphant will voice the Terminator in the upcoming anime series Terminator Zero.

This is an interesting choice as the Terminator is most famously voiced by Arnold Schwarzenegger, so it’s interesting from the get-go that they’re going in a ne, fresh direction with this.

2022: A future war has raged for decades between the few human survivors and an endless army of machines. 1997: The AI known as Skynet gained self-awareness and began its war against humanity. Caught between the future and this past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet’s impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he is hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future which forever alters the fate of his three children.

I love the Terminator series even though pretty much everything has disappointed since 1992’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day, but for some reason, I always hold out hope that the next story will be a winner… possibly because I read a lot of the Dark Horse comics when I was a kid and some of those stories were amazing and have stuck with me to this day, so I know that, in a world of time-traveling unstoppable killing machines constantly trying to protect their own existence, there’s a wealth of stories worth telling. Hopefully, this is one of them.

Thoughts on Olyphant as the Terminator, I want to hear them all…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
