In this week’s biggest WTF story it seems that Disney, despite firing The Mandalorian star Gina Carano, are happy to put her forward for an Emmy.
No, really.
We’re not going to get into why she was fired, who was right or any of that – there’s social media for that, go fill your boots – but we will say we loved her on the show and, no matter the circumstances, we were sorry to find out that Cara Dune would not be returning for The Mandalorian Season 3 or the Rangers of the New Republic series.
However, we, like many others, were surprised to see Disney have pushed the actress for a Best Supporting Actress Emmy in their For Your Consideration material (below).
She joins Pedro Pascal nominated for Best Lead Actor and Giancarlo Esposito along with Temuera Morrison for Best Supporting Actor – it’s quite a long list.
I feel that, if Disney wants to sever all connections with the actress, they should not have put her forward for her performance as the battle-worn ex-Rebellion shock trooper but rather should have quietly just NOT included her… I mean, imagine how awkward it will be if she wins.
It also kinda lends credence to the rumours we’re hearing that she may be in talks to return to Disney ala James Gunn… but hey, what do we know?
Anyways, thoughts and opinions? I know you have them on this story.
