Another MCU TV Series is on its way… and it’s going to be very different.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Damage Control is a group of characters whose job it is to come in after big battles in the Marvel comics and, basically, clean it up. It has been hinted at the SHIELD did that in the MCU but now it seems like Damage Control might be there too.
ABC are adding to their SHIELD and Carter line-up, and have asked Marvel Television to develop the series which will be developed by The Daily Show’s Ben Karlin and will be a 30 minute weekly, single camera show. And it’ll be a comedy.
Yes, a comedy: “Damage Control has never had an ongoing series, instead appearing in a number of mini-series dating back to 1989, but they regularly appear in various Marvel Comics (especially during events) often doing as much damage as good.”
This seems like an inspired idea, with the movie tie-ins being a complete given. Just think of the damage caused by the Marvel movies… it’s a gift.
How a comedy will work in the MCU is anyone’s guess, but we’ll be paying close attention.
Karlin will develop and executive produce the project with “Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s” David Miner and Marvel’s head of television, Jeph Loeb. It’s a co-production of ABC and Marvel Television.
