Hard as it is to believe, the iconic animated series Over the Garden Wall turns ten today!
And to celebrate, Aardman Animation has put out an all-new short featuring Elijah Wood and Collin Dean as Wirt and Gregory and it’s as beautiful and dream-like as you imagined/hoped it would be.
When asked about the new short being stop-motion rather than hand-drawn, creator Patrick McHale said: “It depends on the mood you’re trying to evoke. In some ways, it seems like Over the Garden Wall probably should have been realized in stop-motion all along — it just feels kind of right for that world. But I love hand-drawn animation just as much as stop-motion.”
The series starred Elijah Wood and Collin Dean as Wirt and Gregory who are trying to get home while stumbling across all sorts of adventures and weird, sometimes sinister, creatures.
The series, while only running for one season, featured cameos from Christopher Lloyd, John Cleese, Tim Curry and more.
Happy birthday, Over the Garden Wall, oh, how time flies…
