We’ve waited soooooooo long, but tonight, thanks to Netflix’s big event focused on its upcoming shows and movies called Tudum (get it?), we have our first teaser and posters for the highly anticipated The Sandman!
And it looks absolutely superb and this teaser will unquestionably excited fans of Neil Gaiman’s iconic comic series as it shows the moment Dream, AKA Morpheus, is caught and trapped on earth… I could talk about this all night but I’ll let those who don’t know discover it and those who do, enjoy it.
This has been a long time coming and, while we still have no release date, my excitement is already through the roof!
The Lord of Dreams has been summoned, and captured, by mortal men. Once free from his captivity, this eternal ruler of Dreams will realize that his troubles are only just beginning.
The Sandman is a Netflix series based on the groundbreaking comic book series created for DC by Neil Gaiman. The series is Executive Produced by Neil Gaiman, Allan Heinberg, & David S. Goyer.
Tom Sturridge will play Dream, with Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Acheampong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry and Sanjeev Bhaskar also starring.
Creator Neil Gaiman, is co-writing the series, so hopefully, this is in good hands as Sandman is one of the greatest comics of all-time, with many believing it to be unfilmable.
Here is the breakdown with the addition of names like David Thewlis, Joel Richardson and Stephen Fry making us very excited, however the casting of Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman as Joanna Constantine, the great, great, great grandmother of John Constantine is the one that has our attention as we have a feeling that she will be using in the story the way John Constantine was used in the comic… which might put a few noses out of joint but as long as they make it clear they haven’t gender-swapped the character, there should be a lot of fun to be had here.

KYO RA (she/her) is ROSE WALKER, A young woman on a desperate search for her missing brother. She discovers a connection to Dream that neither of them can escape.
STEPHEN FRY (he/him) is GILBERT, Debonair protector of Rose Walker.
RAZANE JAMMAL (she/her) is LYTA HALL, Rose’s best friend and travel companion.
SANDRA JAMES YOUNG (she/her) is UNITY KINCAID, Heiress and mysterious benefactor.
