The first trailer for HBO’s Watchmen series has dropped and it certainly looks like a visual sequel to Zack Snyder’s masterful adaptation of the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons series.
It’s hard to work out where this lies in the timeline of the original movie or graphic novel. Is it a sequel to one or the other? Is it a new take on the mythology?
Whatever it is, it looks great and I’m jazzed to see it.
Tick tock. WATCHMEN debuts this fall on HBO.
From Damon Lindelof and set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, this drama series embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel of the same name while attempting to break new ground of its own.
The cast includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, and James Wolk.
WATCHMEN is based on the graphic novel co-created and illustrated by Dave Gibbons and published by DC.
