Ready to feel old? Well, Sherlock is 10-years old today!
Yes, on July 25th 2010, the BBC’s Sherlock series starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman and Holmes and Watson, hit our screens and despite some truly awful entries in its short run, the chemistry and charm of the cast kept us coming back for more.
And now one of the cast (and creator and co-writer with Steven Moffatt), Mark Gatiss who played Sherlock’s brother Mycroft Holmes, has taken to twitter/Chinese streaming website Youku to mark the anniversary.
“It has come to my attention that it is ten years since a highly fictionalised account of my brother’s adventures was brought to the screen. This was a mistake,” Mycroft says.
“Detection is or should be an exact science and should be treated with the same cold and unemotional manner.
“These programmes have attempted to tinge it with romanticism, which has rather the same effect as if one were to work a love story or an elopement into the fifth proposition of Euclid. However, in their defence, the one who plays me is very handsome.”
