While the news that Stephen King himself is not involved in the creation of Hulu’s upcoming Castle Rock series (here) was disappointing, it doesn’t mean we’re not still hoping for the best.
With the title referring to the imaginary New England town of Castle Rock, the place where many of King’s novel take place, we were hoping that this could be the first step towards a shared TV universe that would see Needful Things, IT, The Dark Half, Cujo and many more of his tales coming together to live in the same place.
It’s unlikely now that that’s the plan here… but we’re hoping there will be threads.
Check out the new teaser below.
A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The series stars André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Sissy Spacek, Billy Skarsgård, Jane Levy and Scott Glenn. Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason developed the project for television and serve as executive producers along with J.J. Abrams, Ben Stephenson and Liz Glotzer. Castle Rock is from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
