We learned last week that Netflix were bringing back the worldwide hit Squid Game for a second series (here) and now we have some more fun details on the show’s return.
On the show’s return, writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk says: “It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever.”
The original series saw down on his luck and in severe debt Gi-Hun sign up for what he thinks is a simple game to win himself some money but turns out to be much, much more deadly – if you haven’t seen it, you really should, it’s worth the hype!
Executive producer of the Korean show Kim Ji-yeon says: “We are working on the script right now and making the form of the story.
“But there’s definitely a lot of pressure on how to make [Season 2] even better. I know that a lot of the different fans and audiences have enjoyed the series very much, but really we’re focusing on how to make it even more joyful to the global audience.”
