WATCH: Trailer bolts in for Disney+’s Percy Jackson & The Olympians series

We finally have our first look at the new Percy Jackson series from Disney+.

Restarting the adventure, and not picking up where the movies left off, this time out Walker Scobell plays Percy, who just learned he is, in fact, a demigod, on his quest to gather his team of friends and find the lightning bolt of Zeus, played here by the late (and great) Lance Reddick.

With the series kicking off on December 20th, Disney has made a solid claim to the Christmas family TV audience with the Percy Jackson franchise.

Mind you, I’ll still be watching Hilda first, just sayin’.

Wonderful Netflix animated series Hilda getting third – and final – season this December!

Percy Jackson & The Olympians tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt.

Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus.

Only on Disney+, December 20th.

Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s FacebookTwitter and Instagram

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
