Video game developer Capcom already have a remake of their mega popular survival horror Resident Evil available to download and also have a remake of Resident Evil 0 on the way but now they are seemingly turning their attention to Resident Evil 2.
Capcom posted on the official Resident Evil facebook page this message –
Hello Resident Evil fans!
This is Capcom R&D Division 1!
First off, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to all Resident Evil fans, for your passion, enthusiasm and continued support for the Resident Evil brand.
Enthusiasm for a Resident Evil 2 Remake is something we’ve been hearing from you over the years, and has drawn some recent attention in the media.
However, as the team owns the RE brand, we’re not certain how we feel about this approach, and would like to ask your honest and frank opinion about the “Resident Evil 2 Remake” and what the brand identity is supposed to be about?
Arguably the best instalment in the franchise, it has long had a rabid fan-base vocal in its support of a remake. In 2012, fans set up a facebook page simply called ‘Remake Resident Evil 2’. The post has thousands of comments and it seems like a unanimous yes, but it’s curious why Capcom have issued this post in the first place when it was clear that fans already wanted a remake..
One things for sure this is a very promising indicator and hope for fans of the series and its return to its survival horror roots. If the Resident Evil 0 remake announcement, which came a few months after the Resi 1 release is anything to go by, we could be hearing more positive news very soon.
