Animal Crossing New Horizons
Nintendo Switch
After so long the most wholesome game series that has ever been has finally made its way to the Nintendo Switch.
Animal Crossing New Horizons is the pinnacle of the franchise and is one of the best games that Nintendo has ever brought out. Here is my little review of the game along with some tips and tricks to help you get through the first few days and get yourself started on your own island getaway.
One of the first things that I love about this game is a little something right at the start; unlike the other games where your character was randomly created, this time you actually get to create your character with lots of different eyes to choose from, along with different shaped noses and a few different hair styles to choose from with more unlock-able ones to get as you progress through the game.
Once you’re finally done creating your character you get to choose between one of four randomly created islands, each one will have one of five random fruit growing there with them being either apples, peaches, pears, cherries or oranges.
Your island airport will also be one of a few different colours with my island Numenor being blue.
Now, once you get settled on your little bit of paradise there are a few things you’ll want to do on your first day; the first is paying off your loan for the flight and tent, this first payment can be paid for in Nook Miles which a bonus currency you can earn in game through earning achievements such as catching fish and insects, you can however only pay for your first home loan this way.
The second one will have to be paid in full with Bells; after that your Nook Miles can be used to buy various in-game things such as furniture and new recipes for building items.
Now you won’t be able to get all the things you need right away but if you follow this then you’ll be able to get them just a little bit quicker than I did.
From the start you can get a flimsy fishing rod and a flimsy net and these will be vital to unlocking new things for your island, during your first day you’ll want to go and show Tom Nook a few insects and fish you’ve caught, doing this will get you the blueprint for the flimsy axe so you can get different types of wood.
Once you’ve shown him five of either he’ll suddenly get a phone call from the one and only Blathers, the curator of the museum, you will then have to find a spot for said museum and wait until the next day for Blathers to arrive the next day, when he does you’ll have the blueprints for the shovel and vaulting pole for you to be able to get over rivers.
My last tip for the day is maybe something you might not have thought of, but when you do you’ll wonder why you haven’t thought of it before. When you’re beating rocks with a shovel you should dig three holes behind you, these will make sure that you don’t keep getting knocked back away from the rock and you can strike it the maximum eight times and get all the goodies that will help you along your island journey.
There is so much other stuff that I could tell you about this game and why its one of the best games I’ve ever played but I think I’ll sit back and let the game speak for itself.
I honestly cannot fault this game on anything, it is one of the most perfect and well-presented games that I’ve ever had the pleasure of reviewing and I hope you all find peace on your happy islands in this time of struggle that we all find ourselves in.
Enjoy a quiet day on your island getaway and prepare to be immersed in the most visually stunning concepts there has ever been. Stay safe folks and like always, stay nerdy.
