One of the subtle joys we get via Gotham is to see certain characters that have sometimes only been rarely in other Batman media, and give them the chance to stand out on their own.
An example of such a character is Lucius Fox, who was first brought to life on the big screen by Morgan Freeman. Now though, he’ll make his TV debut (animated series not included) on Gotham, and will be played by Chris Chalk.
The character will arrive in episode 21, and could quite possibly be featured in season 2 should things go well. Lucius Fox is a big part of Batman lore, as he is not only a technical genius, but also helps Bruce Wayne run Wayne Enterprises. He was a mentor to Bruce, many times shown to have known Thomas Wayne personally, and thus wanting to help keep the true Wayne Legacy alive.
