In today’s Hall H panel at Comic-Con, Warner Bros. just revealed that the Green Lantern’s solo movie will be called Green Lantern Corps, which is due out in 2020.

In DC canon, the Green Lantern Corps is an intergalactic police force that defends sectors of the known universe. The collectively call on the power of the Central Power Battery using their famous rings, which allows them to harness the green energy of will to create constructs like weapons and allow them to fly through space.

Called “The Green Lantern Corps,” the movie is rumored to star Chris Pine as Hal Jordan, according to sources within Hall H who say the studio showed a quick image of him in a line-up of their upcoming film. Tyrese Gibson is heavily rumored to be playing John Stewart. Presumably this movie would also foind a place for Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner, but no confirmation of either has been given.

With 5 years!!! until a release there is still plenty of time for wild, unfounded casting speculation. One thing is for certain Ryan Reynolds will not be reprising his role in the film.

Andrew McCarroll never quite built on the dizzying career heights that he hit at 6 years old, when as a member of the “Ghostbusters” he would charge his neighbours to remove any unwanted spectres. Now retired from slaying spooks, he spends his time obsessing over superheroes (especially Batman) and devouring shows like Dexter, Game of Thrones and Archer in a manner that would make Galactus proud.
