If you were planning to go and see Star Wars: The Force Awakens dressed as Kylo Ren or Captain Phasma, you might want to rethink your costume.
US cinema chains such as Cinemark and AMC have banned masks, fake weapons and face paint from screenings of JJ Abrams’s upcoming sci-fi movie.
“AMC does not permit weapons or items that would make other guests feel uncomfortable or detract from the movie-going experience,” AMC said in a statement.
“Guests are welcome to come dressed in costume, but we do not permit masks.”
Well, that’s just the biggest killjoy ever, isn’t it? In fairness though, the cinema chains have a solid reason for not permitting such things and we’ll just have to, yano, watch the movie in peace.
