It seems Disney is making some very big changes to its Disneyland resort. Major closures are set to start on many of their rides, attractions and restaurants from 10th and 11th of January. Most of these will be temporary but some will be permanent.

The Rollercoaster ‘Big Tunder’ will stay but everything related to it, such as the petting zoo, the Ranch Barbecue and the Jamboree, is set to close. The location is to be made the entrance to the new extension that will house Star Wars Land.

The Rivers of America rides and attractions will be put on hold, as the ride will pass through construction areas; this includes The Disneyland Railroad, Tom Sawyer Island, Mark Twain Riverboat, Sailing Ship Columbia and

Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes. Although these will not permanently be closed it isn’t clear how long they will be closed for.

Disney does not expect a significant loss in attendance during the construction period, however if there is a loss, it will be quickly be rekindled once everything is up and running again.
