New details about Hulk’s role in Thor: Ragnarok have been revealed – and it looks like we’re going to be treated to one hell of an appearance. Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner will buddy up with the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) on what’s being called a cosmic road trip.
However, what wasn’t clear was how Thor: Ragnarok would be introduced into the film. Now, sources close to Geek.com (via Squareyed) have revealed new information on how Hulk fits into the film, following his disappearance at the conclusion of Avengers: Age of Ultron.
According to previous rumours, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Cate Blanchett’s Hela team up and banish Thor from Asgard, destroying Mjolnir. Thor doesn’t have his hammer and he’s forced to defeat a number of opponents in a gladiatorial-style event, where the champion happens to be Hulk.
So far, so Planet Hulk… we’re guessing this will lead into a standalone Hulk movie explaining how he came to be there.
The character has not reverted back to being Bruce Banner, which explains how he’s able to survive on the planet called Sakaar. Hulk is starting to revert back to being Banner and it’s here when he recalls his friendship with Thor, paving the way for them to team up in order to stop Loki.
Thor: Ragnarok opens on November 3, 2017.
